This is a substantial watch. If you appreciate a heavy watch, not a bad choice. However if you are looking for a lightweight, can't tell it's on your wrist timepiece, this is not for you. I like the fact that the numbers are large and the night glow in the hands and time marks are easy to see.....chalk it up to getting old eyes. The stainless steel band is another plus for me. If you purchase any watch that has "goldtone" on the band or face.....it will wear off over time. I spend a great deal of time in and around the water. First week I owned this watch, went fishing on the Gulf. No condensation under the face. Of course fresh water cleaning on any watch after that kind of exposure is a good idea. Two knocks on the watch.......first if you like the sweep hand to hit the numbers exactly as it goes around.... mine doesn't. Secondly. the band is very large. Had to have two links taken out....maybe not a complaint, but unless you have very large wrists, you will have to get some band adjustment. br /br /Good bang for the buck.

I bought this watch for my husband as a birthday gift. I knew Invicta watches tend to have large faces, but wow. It was an absolutely beautiful watch and he loved it, but the size just made him look like he was compensating or was a little boy playing dress-up with Daddy's watch. The process of lost wax casting starts with a sculptor crafting a representation of the desired piece out of wax, creating a pattern with the same intricate detail that will appear on the metal piece of jewelry in its final form. Once the mold surrounding the wax pattern reaches the desired thickness, it is allowed time to harden and then heated in a kiln. As temperatures rise, the wax within is melted and eradicated through the channels left by the sprues, hence the name "lost wax." The result of this stage is a strong mold with a hollow opening in the shape of the original wax design.

Molten metal can then be inserted into the final mold through the channels, and is usually injected rather than poured in jewelry crafting so that the metal fills each intricately placed impression in the mold. When the metal hardens, the mold is removed to reveal the piece. In the final stages, protrusions such as those created by the opened channels or other vents must be removed and the metal polished to its final, lustrous state.

Variations in the lost wax casting process exist, such as the use of rubber molds rather than ceramic, but the fundamental lost wax principles remain widely used due to the intricate details that can be produced in the end. Though modifications have been made to the lost wax casting process throughout history, the effectiveness of its underlying process has withstood the test of time.
